Double Taillight Conversion for Astra F Sedans

Ok. So. Lets start with the right side bulb housing. Place
housing like pics with brake on left and park on right. First,
check lug connection. 1 of the 6 connections will be blank,
as in not used. This is probably used for rear fog on uk models.
Can be used for that. Just wire on a switch. Anyway, solder
a piece of wire from this un-used positive track to the park
positive track...and presto...instant double brakes. That's
the yellow wire in pics, if u can see the colours clearly. If
u lookin at housing like in pic, it will be (from left) track
2 to track 6. Track 1 is ground by the way. Ok. Easy, no?!
Now comes the hard part. We can't say brake bulb and park bulb
anymore, coz they both gonna be both. So lets now call them
the left and right bulb. For the double brake u need to solder
the brake positive from right bulb to brake element on left
side bulb. The park (right) bulb has 2 tracks inside the bulb
socket but the brake (left) bulb only has 1 so solder the wire
straight onto the brake contact of the bulb. Brake element on
left bulb must face up (top of pic). So that would be track
5 to brake element contact. If u look at bulb, brake element
is the higher one in the bulb. lower one is park.

Before puttin bulb in, use screwdriver to push metal track
inside bulb socket to far right side of socket. Then when u
put bulb in, dont screw it all the way in. Just screw it in
a millimeter ot 2 to prevent it from poppin out. If u screw
it in 2 much, it's gonna cause both contacts to touch the track
and your brakes are gonna stay on permenantly when u switch
your lights on.
I think the best way to do this is to do the right side first.
Then test it. If it works, disconnect right side and tackle
left side and test that side. Then hook up both when ready.
This may seem a bit too much work, and a bit of a bother every
time you need to change a bulb, but how often do we do that
anyway. And the end result is definitely worth it.
